If you are anything like us, you love books. So, when I can get a good book for $1 there is no way I can resist. These are my two recommendations you can get for $1 through January 31.
This book is based on the life of Rosetta Douglass, daughter of orator and abolitionist Frederick Douglass. It not only tells the story of Rosetta’s first day at an exclusively white school in Rochester, New York but also portrays a well-known historical figure in an entirely different light.
Written from the point of view of a camel, Ali, this book tells to story of a camel captured in Egypt and eventually sold to an American colonel. In 1856 Ali joins the U.S. Camel Corps working in Texas.
Now, I had never heard of the U.S. Camel Corps before finding this book, and I have certainly never read a book from the perspective of a camel. So, I am anxious to give this a read and see if we can incorporate it into our lessons this year.
